Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)

Service Overview

Virtual Desktop Interface (VDI) is a technology that lets you access a virtual desktop computer.  Fleming uses VDI to provide remote access to standardized Fleming desktop services from any location or device.

Available To

All staff and students in specific GIS programs.

This service is only available to users connecting from within North America based on Internet (IP address) geolocation. Users outside North America must connect to Fleming's VPN service before connecting to VDI.

Additional Information

  • For best results, a high-speed Internet connection is required.
  • Just like on-campus desktop computers, user files saved to common Windows locations such as Desktop, My Documents, Downloads, etc., reside on the college's H: and S: network drives. You can also access the H: & S: drive locations remotely by using our MyWorkDrive service instead of VDI.
  • Do NOT use VDI to participate in live virtual meetings using collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Webex or Zoom. To ensure an optimal meeting experience, install and use these types of applications natively on your local computer or device.
