Service Overview

CIRA DNS Firewall Off-Network Protection (ONP) extends enterprise-grade DNS security and content filtering to remote and hybrid users, ensuring they receive the same protection off-network as they do on the Fleming network. Using a lightweight endpoint client, CIRA DNS ONP blocks malware, phishing domains, and malicious websites without requiring a VPN or additional hardware.The service is managed through the same portal as the corporate DNS Firewall, ensuring a consistent setup and unified administration experience.

Getting Started

CIRA DNS Off-Network Protection (ONP) is pre-installed on all Fleming-issued devices and automatically starts up when you log into the machine. It operates in the background and produces notifications and pop-ups when your machine encounters a security threat or inappropriate content.
How to confirm activation:

  • Windows: Look for the CIRA DNS Firewall icon in the system tray.
  • macOS: Look for the icon in the menu bar extras (MBE) at the top of your screen.

Why does the CIRA DNS Firewall say I'm not protected?

If you are getting prompts like " Your Device is not protected", Please try these steps to resolve this issue:

  • Check your Internet connection.
  • Restart your device. A reboot usually completes activation and syncs profiles.
  • If still prompted for activation, contact the IT Service Desk to request a new activation link. Once you have the link:
  1. Open the CIRA DNS Firewall app. Click on the Activate button.
  2. Enter the Activation Link and Click Activate.
  3. Enter your first and last name, then select Enter.
  4. Upon successful activation, the client will display a confirmation screen similar to the one shown below
