Notepad++ is a free source code editor and Notepad replacement that supports several programming languages.

All Users
Notepad++ comes pre-installed on all on-campus Student Desktop PCs and Staff Desktop PCs.
It is also available for manual download and installation on College-asset laptops or for installation on a personal/BYOD device.

Supported Versions: 8.9.2 or above
ALERT: February 3rd, 2026 - Notepad++ was identified as being associated with a recent security incident. If you are using a Fleming College desktop PC, no action is required on your part. For users on all other devices, we highly recommend moving to version 8.9.2 or above.

How to check your Notepad++ version
- Open Notepad++ on your computer.
- In the top menu bar, click on the ? icon (the question mark symbol) or the Help menu.
- From the dropdown menu, select About Notepad++ (it is typically the last option).
A window will pop up displaying information about your current version of Notepad++, including the version number, build date, and other details such as the enabled plugins and the application's architecture (32-bit or 64-bit).
