Sharing Files and Folders in Office 365

Summary

Within Office365, files and folders can be shared with other collaborators.

Body

Overview

Within Office365, files and folders can be shared with other collaborators.

Getting Started

  1. Within OneDrive navigate to the select the file or folder you wish to share.
  2. Click the Share button at the top of the screen.
  3. You will be presented with the Send link dialog as shown.  By default, the share is accessible only to people or groups you specify in the To field, granting them view/read-only access.
  4. To modify the default, click on ‘People you specify can view‘ to bring up the Link setting dialog.  Here you can Allow editing, select ‘People with existing access’ or ‘People at Fleming College with the link’.
(‘Anyone with the link’ is not available as we do not allow anonymous sharing from Office365)

*** Be careful not to overshare.  For example, ‘People in Fleming College with the link’ means that any Fleming user with the URL can access the document.  This is useful for publishing an internally shareable link but beware that the link URL address can be given to others beyond your control. ***
