Service Overview
During the summer semester of each year, the ITS Department prepares a set of common-use and standardized student desktop images to be deployed across our fleet of student desktop PCs. The new student images are deployed to all student PCs in August of each year. Desktop applications are included in each image based on program-specific academic requirements.
Available To
Staff who work in an academic division or school.
Getting Started
Click [ Create Ticket ] to begin the process of requesting a new student desktop application to be included in the student image.
When reviewing new software for use on our student PCs, the following need to be considered:
- Is the software compatible with the latest version of Microsoft's Windows 10 & 11 operating systems?
- What is the recommended hardware configuration required to run the software?
- The software must run as a "standard user" and not require local PC administrative privileges to function.
- How much does it cost to acquire the software?
- What is the vendor licensing model?
- Does it scale well to a large fleet of common-use student PCs and a large number of student users?
