Connect to Your Fleming Desktop via our VPN and RDP

Tags VPN RDP

Overview

Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is a secure network protocol offered by Microsoft. RDP allows a user to remotely connect to, and execute operations on other computers. When RDP is combined with our virtual private network (VPN) it provides a convenient, and secure way to access your Fleming College desktop from wherever you might be.

The following article will provide a concise walk through on how to use the virtual private network in tandem with the remote desktop protocol.

Please note: You need to sign into the VPN for RDP to work

How To Connect

Download the GlobalProtect VPN Client

Install the GlobalProtect VPN Client

  • When the download completes, run the GlobalProtect.msi file (or GlobalProtect.pkg for Mac)
  • In the ‘Welcome to the GlobalProtect Setup Wizard’ click next
  • Install to the default directory, C:\Program Files\Palo Alto Networks\GlobalProtect\, click next
  • In the ‘Confirm Installation’ window, click next
  • In the ‘Installation Completed’ window, click close

Configure the Global Protect Client

         Example
    4. Click ‘Connect’
    5. A ‘Windows Security’ window will pop up asking for credentials. Enter your normal Fleming password. If you’re prompted for a username enter it as username@flemingcollege.ca (ttaunton@flemingcollege.ca as an example)
