OS Updates & Patching

Service Overview

Keeping the operating system (OS) of electronic devices up to date is an important security practice to ensure the devices are functioning properly and remain secure throughout their life. Using automatic updates is the recommended way to keep devices up to date where feasible. However, some devices at the College rely upon regular device imaging or manually installed updates. This service will review the update/patch status of a device, determine the preferred update/patch method and perform the installation.

Operating system (OS) updates are usually the most visible, but device firmware and application updates should also be regularly applied.
